10 Things You Need To Know About Sarah Palin

Posted on 01 September 2008

Since her appointment to John McCain’s ticket as the Republican Vice Presidential Candidate, it seems Sarah Palins fellow Alaskans have not been shy about selling her out, and pulling back the shroud of just who the hell she is.

It has been a long time since Americans in the lower 48 have given Alaska a once over, and really looked at it’s natural beauty, and the fishing industry that stuffs our fat asses with Salmon and other seafood delicacies.  Alaska is probably one of the last states in the Union with the most untouched wildlife.  I mean we have pretty much put housing subdivisions, and strip malls everywhere, and then we have the nerve to call wild wolves, bears, and deers a nuisance when they pop up in our backyards. (Hmm, who’s backyard is it anyway?)

Sara has a fix for that, she has a $150 bounty per head , for the wolves of Alaska.  Just because they exist.

Jessica and John Teel, year round residents of Alaska, are the webmasters of www.grizzlybay.org, a website dedicated to Alaskan Grizzlies and Preserving their natural habitat.  Yes the place that you watch on the Discovery channel with your kids…they live there.

There are some strong feelings about the Republican’s “goodbye girl” (I call her that because her appointment means that they can say “Goodbye to the Presidency“) , Sarah Palin in Alaska.  Her fellow natives are not afraid to let us all know about the lady who would be one single heartbeat away from the Presidency.

10 Things You Should Know about Sara Palin:www.grizzlybay.org

  1. She is presently under investigation in Alaska for abuse of power
  2. She believes creationism should be taught in public schools
  3. She is opposed to abortion even in cases of rape and incest
  4. She strongly supports big oil (her husband works for oil company BP)
  5. She has no federal or international experience.  Prior to being governor (for less than two years) she was only the mayor of a small Alaskan town and a beauty queen!
  6. She believes global warming is a farce and is opposed to listing the polar bear as an endangered species
  7. She supports drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and anywhere else big oil wants
  8. She supports Pebble Mine which will destroy the richest salmon run in the world
  9. She supports aerial shooting of bears and wolves even though Alaskans voted twice to ban the practice.
  10. She used $400,000 of state money to fund a media campaign in support of aerial shooting of wolves and bears.

The Corruption in a nut shell : After she fired the Dept. of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. Palin pressured Monegan to fire her sister’s ex husband who is a state trooper, and involved in a custody battle with Palin’s sister. When Commissioner Monegan refused, Palin fired him. Sounds like a great women to me :)

  2. Elflin says:

In other words, the perfect companion for McCain lol.

  3. Ahmed Romeo says:

This is some kind of sick sh_t! Sarah Palin is at least as qualified as Barack Obama. This kind of partisan drivel doesn’t convince anyone of anything.

  4. m says:

    Thanks for the great info..

  5. eborg9 says:

Ahmed, I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything. The facts are plain, I did not make up any aspect of anything put in this post.
In case you didn’t notice…this is a political opinion blog.

  6. jkillah1 says:

Wow Ahmed… way to see the facts and completely dismiss them as “partisan drivel”. I for one believe that you perfectly represent almost all McCain supporters.

  7. R. Clark says:

These half truths are simply an ignorant attempt to smear a hard working woman with a great deal of integrity. The simple fact that she is open with her viewpoints should be given credit. As for the ethics investigation, why don’t you do some research before you blindly repost smears from GrizzlyBay or MoveOn. She has taken great strides to clean up corruption in Alaska - with great success, and yes, she has had to make some enemies along the way. She has committed no ethics violations, she has simply been accused by the corrupt and wasteful employees within the state government that she had to step on to root out the problems.

  8. eborg9 says:

R.Clark , unfortunately we don’t know anything about her, so the good has to come with the bad. it’s part of the game now-a-days when you run for office. Obama has certainly taken his share over the months. Everything from claims that he was sworn into the senate with his hand on the Islamic bible, to racism, and insults to his children in supposed “art” exhibits.

  9. mark says:

The notion that Palin has more experience than Obama is a talking point right out of the RNC, or was it Rush L. And it’s preposterous. State Governments are designed to withstand idiots as Governor. Heaven knows, there have been hundreds of such idiots over the years, yet you never hear of a state failing. Things get bad in states, but they don’t go bankrupt. That’s because Governors are never as fully in control as in other enterprises. States have very resilient infrastructures that allow nearly anybody to walk in and function as Gov.

Obama put together — from scratch — an enterprise that took on the Chicago machine. That famously powerful machine wanted someone else to be Senator. Obama’s enterprise beat him. Then he developed a second enterprise — again from scratch — that took on Clinton and the DLC and beat them. Kudos have been given to Obama for a phenomenal campaign. Even his convention, with half the delegates being for Hillary, went remarkably smoothly.

Obama’s executive skills clearly are remarkable. And remember, both McCain and Hillary had to totally revamp their campaigns more than once each. Obama did it right the first time.

By the way, if Obama’s 4 years in the Senate, and 9 years in state Gov are worth zero, then by your measure, Palin has more experience than McCain.

Simply preposterous. But if that’s all you’ve got, better listen harder to Rush.

  10. mark says:

To clarify my point above. I’m not suggesting that Palin was a good or a bad Governor. Heaven knows we know nothing about her.

All I’m suggesting is that the assumption that 18 months as Governor in one of the smallest population states in America proves she has experience is simply an unsupported conclusion. And it’s also a talking point of the RNC, seeing as how every single Republican pundit has stated this very thing in the last 24 hours. Clearly on cue. Her time in office — as a single indicator — is irrelevant.

Plus, in Alaska, nearly 100% of the taxes come from the oil industry. There are subsidies for nearly everything because of that windfall of $. This reduces one of the biggest headaches a Governor faces. Instead, she could concentrate on getting wild animals hunted from airplanes, and getting the corrupt Ted Stevens reelected. So much for her integrity.

  11. Anonymous says:

Should she get her panties in a bunch if someone talks about her like Obama does, too?

And thinking global warming is a farce is valid, considering that there’s enough scientists and meteorologists with evidence that global warming is just as farfetched as global freezing in the 80’s.

And this article looks shopped. I can tell by some of the pixels and seeing quite a few shops in my day.

  12. Gary says:

    S. Pallin was a member of the Alaska Independence Party until she decided to run for public office, when she switched to Republican. The AIP platform is to withdraw from the US. She is a TRAITOR.

  13. Jeff_NH says:

    Additional things to know.

    1) Once elected to office, she often feels the need to actually vote on issues rather than following Obama’s vision of voting ‘present’ 130 times in the Illinois senate.

    2) The selection of Palin is quite a change from the normal politics of picking a Washington insider. This is very confusing to those who want change they can believe in (a.k.a status quobama).

    3) She does not support the terrestrial stabbing and then abandonment of human fetuses though she is willing to support the aereal management of wildlife populations. Believe it or not, this actually bothers people.

  14. david says:

“A Palin Joined the Alaskan Independence Party, Just Not Sarah.” This is from the New York Times, which has not shied away from criticizing her.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/04/us/politics/04party.html?ref=politics

“After she fired the Dept. of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. Palin pressured Monegan to fire her sister’s ex husband who is a state trooper, and involved in a custody battle with Palin’s sister. When Commissioner Monegan refused, Palin fired him.”

The ex-husband dodged assault accusations from Gov Palin’s sister by using the influence of the exact people that Gov Palin was going after, even beforehand, to protect himself. Commissioner Monegan was thoroughly corrupt as well. Look at all of that dirty money in Alaska; she has done well to get our energy establishment in order and she has fought corruption.

Also, she vetoed a bill that would have banned state employees with same-sex partners from having couple’s rights regarding state pensions. She is pro-life, and conservatives love to talk about pro-life shit, but the reality is that the Republican leadership long ago decided not to engage in actual lawmaking practices that would curtail homo and intersexual rights. Sure, we can say “shame on them for pandering!”, but in reality they are harmless (and they know it)!

  15. Kathy Tuley says:

What a great eye opener, thanks to John & Jessica Teel at grizzlybay.org!
“Listen” voters, this is “OUR COUNTRY”

  16. Youlie says:

The “facts” you have posted are all completely false do some research you are left wing douche

  17. Editor says:

Youlie, Why don’t you check the wikipedia page that Sarah Palin and the Republican Party edited as soon as she was nominated, and then come back with something educated to say.
Her public record is well documented, particularly with Alaskan Newspapers.
I am assuming you know her personally and have followed her political career over the last 2 years?

Or are you just spouting venom based on emotion and no real knowledge ?

Geez, didn’t I give enough links to reputable sources and newspapers?…I guess everyone in the country is just on a smear campaign to discredit her for the things that she actually did.

You don’t have to believe it, but it is pretty hard to silence newspapers, and the State of Alaska .
    Government Website.
Those must all be lies too.

  18. Editor says:

Jeff, once again, McCain/Palin supporters can never answer or defend their position without saying the word “Obama”.

Just once I would like to see one of you answer a question or defend a position without saying, “Yeah, but look what he did”.

You guys must be really nervous.

Besides, Palin is a Vice Presidential Candidate, her opponent is Joe Biden, not Barack Obama. If you want to make a comparison, VP Candidate for VP candidate, then you should be comparing her to Biden“. Barack Obama is running against, and will be debating John Mccain…just though I would catch you up on what going on.

  19. Tomasco says:

She looks absolutely perfect to me. Just think….the first woman President of the United States just might be Sarah Palin. Now, wouldn’t you libs just all implode if that were to happen? Don’t doubt it because you’ve sure as hell thrown this election away. Just unbelievable. You couldn’t lose in 2008 but it sure does look like it’s going to! Hilarious. Tons of fun. I agree with every single one of the points you mention. I mean I like them! Go Sarah!

  20. Pete Abbotts UK says:

Americans. This woman is a Creationist and therefore believes in talking snakes! Do you really want her finger on the nuclear button? Vote Democrat.

  21. Sarah says:

Even though I do not support Palin or McCain at all, I would like to mention that factcheck.org has researched and tried to set the record straight about Sarah Palin. Many of the things circulating about her are not true, or are a very skewed version of the truth. In my opinion people should read and understand candidates politics in an unbiased way, otherwise people will not know who they are or aren’t voting for. Sarah Palin politics are bad enough (in my opinion) that people don’t need to skew and circulate untruths about her, so go on factcheck.org and read what her actual politics are instead of spreading mistruths. http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_palin.html
