2008 McCain Contributions From Law Firm Founded By Charles Keating

Tags: , , ,

According to OpenSecrets.org, in July of 2008, The John McCain for President campaign received over $50,000 in contributions from 41 partners of the Cincinnati law firm Keating Muething & Klekamp.

If the first name on that list sounds a little familiar, it’s because the firm was founded by the thorn of mistrust in McCain’s political career, Charles Keating, who was a former  business partner of Cindy McCain prior to the infamous Keating Five scandal that collapsed America’s savings and loans, and forever tarnished John McCain’s political career.

Back then John McCain

Among the partners who contributed was none other than Keating’s nephew, William J. Keating, Jr..

No one from the Keating firm is listed among McCain’s disclosure of bundlers of $50,000 or more.

If John McCain has nothing to hide, and has insisted since the Keating 5 scandal that he did nothing wrong, then why not list contributors linked to his old buddy Charles Keating ?

It seems that John McCain cannot help himself and stay off the slippery slope of accepting money from lobbyist, even with the stigma of the scandal in which thousands of American’s lost everything…even as he is running for President. And even more bewildering is that McCain seems to either be arrogant enough, or stupid enough to believe he can play both sides of the coin and hide this, and that we are too stupid to even raise an eyebrow.

The McCain “Straight Talk Express” is more like the “Bull Shit Express.  It is apparent that John McCain will say one thing to our face, but will do what he wants behind our backs.  No matter how much “I”m for you, the average Joe (the plumber) ” crap he speaks, it is clear that John McCain is out for John McCain, and his buddies.

One has to wonder about the judgement of a man who would accept campaign contributions linked to the corruption that almost brought down his career and forever cast a shadow of his trustworthiness.  Actually, there is no judgement to question…it stinks.

According to the Huffington Post:

There was no McCain fundraiser in the Cincinnati area on or around July 31st, so it appears that someone was bundling these contributions, yet no one from the Keating firm is listed among McCain’s disclosure of bundlers of $50,000 or more.

New Website On McCain, Keating 5 , U.S. Savings and Loan Collapse

Tags: , , ,

Keatng Economics.com is the new website that chronicles John McCain’s involvement with what was previously America’s greatest financial disaster since the Great Depression, The American Savings and Loan Collapse .

John McCain and 4 other U.S. Senators were accused of improperly aiding his political patron, Charles Keating, chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association.  They are known in American History as The Keating 5.

At the heart of the scandal was Keating’s Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which took advantage of deregulation to make risky investments with its depositors’ money. McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating with federal regulators tasked with preventing banking fraud, and championed legislation to delay regulation of the savings and loan industry – actions that allowed Keating to continue his fraud at an incredible cost to taxpayers. (Sound Familiar ?  No Really…  DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR !?! )

The new site chronicles a historic account of the entire collapse of the American Savings and Loan Industry, where a great number of Americans lost millions of dollars and caused America’s Savings and Loans across the country to go completely belly up, leaving American taxpayers holding the bag with the bailout.

Research, Downloads and Videos of the account are available on the new site as well as multiple letters  from John McCain to Donald Regan, then the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, unde rPresident  Ronald Regan, and James Baker, The White House Chief of Staff in full support of Charles Keating, even as Americans were losing their life savings.

McCain’s close association and financial support and private jets from lobbyist continued to be  questioned and criticized as recently as the 2000 Presidential Primaries by now President George Bush as seen in this video.

Americans effected by the crisis are invited to share stories of how their lives were affected by the scandal.

Voters are also encouraged to check out John McCain’s record and history in the U.S. Congress and Senate on JohnMcCainRecord.com. The interactive search engine provides an easy look up on McCain’s stance, and voting record on the issues that are and have been important to Americans over the years.

John McCain is the only of the Keating 5 ever to receive the Republican Parties Presidential Nomination,  and even today, his campaign is presently run, or employs over 30 Washington Lobbyist. in key positions, including some who were the payroll of Freddie Mac, and Fannie May lobbying for increased deregulation of the America’s Mortgage Market.  There is a reason that Sarah Palin, and John McCain keep labeling Barack Obama as “Looking into the past, and not the future“….. Because they don’t want you to look !

As Joe Biden said in the recent Vice Presidential Debate, “Past is Prologue”.
