Friday morning on a conservative radio interview, Alaskan Governor and the person who is celebrated as energizing the conservative republican base in America, Sarah Palin told WMAL 630 reporter Chris Plante :
Palin told WMAL-AM that her criticism of Obama’s associations, like those with 1960s radical Bill Ayers and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, should not be considered negative attacks. Rather, for reporters or columnists to suggest that it is going negative may constitute an attack that threatens a candidate’s free speech rights under the Constitution, Palin said.
“If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations,” Palin told host Chris Plante, “then I don’t know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.”
I have to agree with Palin on one thing…Of course she wouldn’t know what the future of our country would be in regards to 1st Amendment rights, because she doesn’t know what the 1st Amendment is now !
Excerpt: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The First Amendment applies to prohibit direct government censorship of speech, and press.
I don’t know if I am more dumbfounded that Caribou Barbie thinks the 1st Amendment protects just her, and no one else, or if Palin has actually been that sheltered in Wassilla, Alaska as to believe that she can say anything she wants and no one is supposed to question her or call her on it.
I am equally as confused as to how Palin can call for the suppression of other peoples 1st Amendment rights, while she is exercising hers. She is truly a Doof in expensive sheeps clothing.
What Sarah Palin is actually saying is that she should be able to say whatever she wants and it should be against the 1st Amendment for anyone to question it because people might actually believe them, instead of her. Why don’t you see for yourself:
This is not Wasilla, Alaska, and here in the big city, your word is not gospel or law. Unfortunately, for Sarah Palin the 1st Amendment is for everyone, not just the mayor and I am going to exercise mine right now:
It is astounding that this is the woman that hundreds of supporters want to be second in command of the United States of America. How can Sarah Palin protect and enforce the rights of all Americans and execute her duties according to the Constitution if even by now, she has never taken the 10 seconds to read the 1st Amendment. What may be even more alarming is, if she has in fact read the constitution, that she is running for Vice President of the United States and still does not understand it.
Palin’s plain spoken, “folksey” all American girl appeal is evident, however, the constitution of the United States is absolute and not open for re-interpretation by any ‘ole moose hunter that decides to use it as a coaster for her 6-pack.
She has been credited for energizing the conservative base, but Sarah Palin is so much more than that. Sarah Palin is the national poster child for more education funding. As she tours the country speaking to small town folk talking about protecting the rights of the “real” American’s, it is obvious that Sarah Palin was a child that was left behind. Understanding the basic principles of the Constitution is a graduation requirement of every High School Student in America.
The constant crying by Republicans that they can’t get a fair shake and everyone is against them is just sickening:
They have run the country for the entire decade. For the last 14 years, they’ve controlled the House for all but 20 months. They spent substantial parts of the last eight years in control of all branches of government simultaneously. They’ve won 7 out of the last 10 presidential elections. The country’s largest and richest corporations — including the ones owning the most powerful media outlets — pour money into their party and perceive, correctly, that their interests are served by the Right’s agenda. But still — they can’t get a fair shake; everything is deeply oppressive to them; it’s all so unfair.- Salon Magazine
The Republican party has spent million’s to provide Palin with advisers, speech writers, handlers, publicists, and 100’s of thousands on clothing for the woman who is propped up to be “just the average American mom”. Palin even has her own plane to promote the obvious need for higher education (which as of today, she has not yet seen as a wasteful expense and has not put it on e-bay), but at this point in the game it is to late for John McCain and the Republican base to provide Sarah Palin with what she really needed...a tutor.
